Course Objectives
To be able to:
Understand the basic structure of electrical power systems.
Model transmission lines as a circuit including resistances, capacitances and inductances.
Represent the power system as a circuit with per unit quantities.
Understand and analyze symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults in a power system.
Course Content
Basic structure of electrical power systems. Electrical characteristics of transmission lines, transformers and generators. Representation of power systems. Per Unit System. Symmetrical three-phase faults. Symmetrical components. Unsymmetrical faults.
Course Learning Outcomes
Having successfully completed this course, the student will be able to model an electrical power system using regular circuit parameters, and also will be able to analyze symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults.
