Course Objectives

This course aims to provide the students with an understanding of the elements of matrix algebra, differential calculus and optimization (unconstrained, equality-constrained and inequality constrained optimization), and to introduce to them the various economic models in which these methods are utilized.


Course Content

Nature of equilibrium analysis. Comparative statics and dynamic analysis. Mathematical treatment of some topics in microeconomics.


Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to apply the mathematical tools introduced to formulate and solve economic problems and to be able to use them in different economic contexts.
