Course Objectives

The course is designed to provide students with an understanding of how economics work. The goal of this course is to furnish students with the basic tools and concepts for analyzing economic events and evaluating policies. Both Microeconomic and Macroeconomic concepts are emphasized in this course.


Course Content

A non-departmental course designed for students outside the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. The nature of economics. A general view of price system. Markets and pricing. The determination and the control of national income. Fiscal policy. Money, banking and monetary policy. International trade and finance. Economic growth and development.


Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course students are expected to gain knowledge on consumers' and individual firms' decisions, determination of market price, determination of aggregate income, open economies, the role of the government and operation of the monetary system.
