Course Objectives

The course aims to introduce an understanding of the domain of economics as a social theory and the main analytical tools and techniques which are used in economic analysis. It is to formulate urban and regional planning issues in the language of economics.


Course Content

This is an introductory course that aims to provide students a broad range of economic concepts, theories and analytical techniques. It considers both microeconomics - the study of the economic behavior of decision-makers (households and firms) - and macroeconomics - the study of the economy as a whole. The course develops a theoretical framework for economic analysis and its application to understanding contemporary issues of economics.


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to understand introductory microeconomic and macroeconomic theory. They will build understanding of important economic terms and concepts, interpretation and manipulation of economic graphs and evaluation of economic data. Besides, they will manage to solve basic economic problems, and use quantitative techniques to analyze economic policies.
