Course Objectives
This course is designed to cover the basic techniques and tools of photogrammetric documentation and modelling of a historic building and settlement.
The primary objectives of the course are to provide knowledge on:
- Terrestrial documentation of a historic building and settlement
- Aerial documentation of a historic building and settlement
- Terrestrial laser scanning of a historic building and settlement
- Evaluation of different architectural photogrammetry techniques and tools
- Preparation of a building's and settlement's photogrammetric documentation work plan
Course Content
Basic principles of terrestrial photogrammetry with emphasis on architectural photogrammetry. The students gain practical experience in fieldwork as well as laboratory work on architectural photogrammetry.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify various methods, tools and techniques in architectural photogrammetry;
- Plan, organise and manage complex photogrammetric documentation of a historic building and/or settlement according to the requirements of different projects;
- Design and produce a comprehensive photogrammetric documentation set for analysing and presenting the data and outcomes specific to a historic building and/or settlement;
- Assess the potential and limitations of various tools and techniques of photogrammetry in heritage recording in different contexts.
