Course Objectives

By the end of the course the students will be able to:

  • know the range of techniques, methods and tools for cultural heritage recording and             information management;
  • understand the advantages and disadvantages of different techniques and tools in heritage recording and     information management in different contexts
  • acquire the basic knowledge for using GIS and photogrammetry in conservation projects;
  • learn the utilization of different tools and techniques heritage recording and information management through various implemented examples from Turkey and the World.

Course Content

Introducing the theoretical and technical advances in cultural heritage recording and information management; teaching different techniques, tools and methods; implementing different tools and techniques on different examples.


Course Learning Outcomes

Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:

  • identify different methods, tools and techniques in heritage recording and information management;
  • organize and manage an integrated heritage recording, documentation and information management process of a heritage building / place according to the requirements of different cases;
  • design, create and generate a geographic information system for gathering, structuring, analysing, querying and presenting the data and outcomes specific to a historic urban landscape;
  • work and involve in a heritage recording and information management process actively;
  • critically assess pros and cons of different tools and techniques in different cases from Turkey and the World.
