Course Objectives
This Course is designed to teach students how to perform one of the most important jobs of any chemist: the interpretation and dissemination of chemical information.
Course Content
This seminar consists of meetings among the department staff, invited guests and graduate students to discuss recent developments in Chemistry.
Course Learning Outcomes
CHEM 501-Seminar in Chemistry I course consists of 15-min M.Sci. student presentations during each session on their thesis studies given at their last semester after the approval of their thesis advisors.
All graduate students are expected to attend all seminars.
M.Sci. students are expected to take this course in their first, second and third semesters in M. Sci. Studies. Students should take this course no later than their third semester.
Presenters are also M.Sci. students who will deliver one seminar before their thesis, either during the fall or spring term according to the schedule constructed by the instructor and thesis advisor circulated at the beginning of each semester.
At the end of this course, successful students will
• have experience preparing 15-minute thesis presentations about their research, tailoring the content to the audience.
• be exposed to completed chemistry thesis studies that will motivate them.
• learn what kind of topics are studied in each research groups at department.
