Course Objectives
Students will synthesize organic compounds, and learn characterization techniques. The students will separate organic compounds from mixtures and apply characterization techniques to identify the separated organic compounds.
Course Content
Synthetic applications of organic laboratory techniques. Prerequisite: CHEM 236.
Prerequisite or co requisite: CHEM 301.
Course Learning Outcomes
In the laboratory, students will run an organic reaction, synthesize a compound, separate the desired compound from unwanted side products, and characterize the compounds by using the organic chemistry laboratory facilities. Students will record their findings.
