Course Objectives

  • Develop a theoretical understanding of learning and teaching in virtual worlds
  • Analyze the pedagogical affordances of virtual worlds to facilitate learning
  • Examine the design principles for 3D learning environments
  • Apply the design principles of 3D learning environments
  • Identify and analyze the recent research in virtual worlds to support education
  • Conduct research on the virtual worlds

Course Content

Introduction to opportunities and challenges of virtual worlds for learning and teaching. Examine the recent research issues in virtual worlds. Research approaches and methods in virtual worlds. Implementation of the research tools in virtual worlds. Conducting research on the virtual worlds.


Course Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to develop a theoretical understanding of learning and teaching in virtual worlds, and design, develop a learning environment in a virtual world
