Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the students will be able to
- understand the use of information and information technologies in contemporary organizations.
- understand the linkages between the use of information systems and firm performance.
- know the core information systems applications that are used by organizations.
- know the tools and techniques for building and managing information systems.
Course Content
The course stresses the value of information as an organizational resource; covers system development methodologies, systems analysis, design, implementation and evaluation, prototyping, data communications and database management.

By the end of the course, the students will be able to
- understand the role of information systems in organizations and link information systems function with other main business functions.
- explain the importance of information systems for firms in achieving competitive advantage.
- demonstrate an understanding of the impact of ethical and social issues raised by information systems.
