Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the structural problem solving skills.
  • use a programming language to write basic level programs.

Course Content

Advanced features of word processors, spreadsheets, and data base management systems. Internet applications. Web page design with html tags. Introduction to algorithms and structured programming. Structure of a Pascal program. Basic elements of Pascal: Character set, identifiers, data types and declarations, constants, and expressions. Selection and looping in Pascal. Modular programming: Functions and procedures. Text files. One-dimensional arrays.


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • develop graphical user interfaces using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • analyze a problem and use basic problem solving techniques.
  • use selection structures in Visual Basic.
  • use repetition structures in Visual Basic.
  • use subroutines and functions in Visual Basic.
  • use arrays in Visual Basic.
  • write Visual Basic programs at a basic level.
