Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course students will:
- Understand the basic science and technology underlying biotechnological processes
- Grasp the fundamentals of biotechnological process development from laboratory to industrial scale
- Become familiar with conventional and novel applications of biotechnology
Course Content
The principles in modern biotechnology; rDNA techniques, tissue culture, bioreactor design and applications are covered in the introductory level.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Define the goals, advantages and challenges of biotechnological processes
- Understand the basic methods and principles of genetic engineering in plant, animal, mammalian and microbial cells.
