By the end of the course the students will be able to
- Understand Biological diversity
- describe the general structures of biological macromolecules
- list the cellular organelles
- outline the connections of organelles in terms of structure and function
- list the components of a bacterial cells
- distinguish the wall chemistry of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria
- distinguish the types of energy generating mechanisms in the cells
- list the major events in eukaryotic and bacterial cell reproduction
- list the rules governing the transmission of characters from generation to generation
- list the structural components of nucleic acids and proteins
- Understand Ecological processes
- explain the different processes in the evolution of populations
- explain why diversity is a function of evolution of populations
