Course Objectives

  • Students comprehend basic concepts in life forms
  • Students compare and contrast plant and animal organismal biology
  • Students discuss the concepts of evolution and ecology
  • Students work in groups or individually to present an idea in biology

Course Content

The course content includes evolution and diversity, structure and function at level of organisms, response of the organisms to their biological and physical environments and basic concepts in ecology.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Compare & contrast life forms
  • Explain the function and working principles of systems
  • Critique the concepts and process of evolution
  • Combine the knowledge of different life forms, evolution, and ecology to construct a holistic understanding of nature and biology
  • Develop the ability to work individually or in a group to discuss and present an idea
