Course Objectives

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the step by step process of writing a 1,800 to 2,100 word research paper that includes five to seven sources in APA format. Alternately, if graduate students are current working on thesis or dissertation, the assignments may be applied to the current research/writing project. Skills developed in this course will have immediate application to the student’s program of studies.


Course Content

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the step by step process of writing a 1.800 to 2.100 word research paper that includes five to seven sources in APA format. Skills developed in this course will have immediate application to the students program of studies at the undergraduate or graduate level.

By completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Choose an appropriate topic for a research-based paper
  • Complete a research plan based on the chosen topic
  • Evaluate the credibility of sources
  • Develop skills of quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing to avoid plagiarism
