Course Objectives

  • understand the current Indo-Pacific strategies
  • understand the general aspects of foreign policies
  • understand Asia through general current events in the media
  • develop basic knowledge in Indo-Pacific

Course Content

This courses focuses on the United States as one of the most serious players of interplay among the Asian powers.Even though the United States, geographically, is not a part of the Asia continent, it has been a very active and determinant actor of region s balance of power and the great power game. The course will, first of all, give a general framework of understanding of the US foreign policy and how it interrelates with Asia and in what sense it is different from its other regional policies and perspectives.

  • acquire a wider knowledge and realistic view of the current trend of social, cultural, political, and economic aspects of the Indo-Pacific region
  • comprehend the overall historical transformation in Asia within a broader regional and global context
  • demonstrate a good understanding of the complex issues and theoretical and empirical debates surrounding the politics, society, and economics of Asia
