Course Objectives
This studio course took on the challenge of designing an exhibition and its space. Using different modes, media and techniques of representation, students will design a space where the archival documentation of the METU Faculty Building will be visible. The aim is to co-structure the discursive ontology of the process of documentation within the virtual medium of archival material, with the spatial presence of “the archive” and its fragments as a physical representation.
Course Content
This course is about different modes and techniques of representation in architecture; directed to master students. Focusing on conventional representation techniques, its objective is to study the transformations in the definition of the works of architects from `toll of communication` to `aesthetic objects`. Instead of suggesting a continuity in this transformation process however, this course is organized to show the possible coexistence of these characteristics.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students are expected to develop a knowledge / awareness about different techniques, modes and media of representation. They are expected to achieve the translation between the information and structure of the text of the archival material, and the space and visuality of the physical archive.
