Course Objectives

This course aims to support students as they undertake preliminary research to identify and frame their M.S. thesis topics in the field of architecture.


Course Content

Research that is necessary in forming a conceptual and/or programmatic basis toward the thesis work. Study is conducted with compulsory attendance requirements, in the form of seminars in the options offered by the Department.


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Identify a focused research topic relevant to the field of architecture.
  • Conduct a preliminary literature review and position their topic within current academic debates and practices.
  • Define conceptual and methodological approaches suitable for further development in thesis work.
  • Present and communicate research ideas effectively in seminar settings
