Course Objectives
This course covers the methods, basic principles, and practical issues of heritage place conservation and presentation. The major objectives of the course are to provide knowledge and skills on:
- general aspects of heritage place conservation, community engagement, and presentation
- methods, basic principles, and practical issues of heritage place conservation and presentation
- different methods, techniques, media and technologies for conserving and presenting heritage places
- how to create stories and narratives about heritage places by, for, and with a broader public
- new and innovative ways of conserving and presenting heritage places
Course Content
Recent development of conservation and Implementation Plans in Turkey. Introduction and discussion of various concept and problems of conservation and implementation on selected specific examples of conservation plans and projects in Turkey and Foreign countries.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
- develop basic knowledge of the methods, basic principles, and practical issues of heritage place conservation and presentation
- develop awareness of the strategies for engaging communities, actors, and stakeholders in heritage conservation and presentation
- develop and practice skills in explaining significance of heritage places to a broader public and engaging the broader public in heritage conservation and presentation process
- practice skills in the conservation and presentation for heritage places
