Course Objectives

At the end of this course, students will:

- comprehend limits and problems of writing architectural history

- learn refined research and interpretation strategies for surveying architectural history

 


Course Content

Complimentary to “AH 601: Critical Review in Architectural History,” and preparatory for the Ph.D. qualification exam, this course is directed towards overviewing architectural history and historiography by focusing on the topic of “survey” as a critical enterprise. It aims to equip students with the tools of studying the topic comprehensively to develop their own research and interpretation strategies.


Course Learning Outcomes

Students, who passed the course satisfactorily, will be able to:

- use a critical approach in writing architectural history 

- conduct new perspectives on surveying architectural history 

- develop a firm basis for the Ph.D. qualification exam
