Course Objectives
- Enabling the students to understand material and theoretical developments in the contemporary world
- Enabling the students to understand the significance of theoretical approaches for the perception of the theoretical construction of the image of the world.
- Enabling the students to understand key concepts such as authority, state, society, freedom, equality.
- Enabling the students to understand political, social, economic and cultural reasons for the emergence and rise of different theoretical and philosophical approaches in the contemporary world
Course Content
The aim of this course is to analyze the large and comprehensive field of political theory. It discusses and analyzes a selected field of interest within one or more theoretical approaches in political science, depending on the selected field of interest of the student.
Course Learning Outcomes
After a successful completion of the course the students should be able to:
- Establish an understanding for the importance of theoretical thinking patterns to understand our place in the world in relation with others
- Establish a sort of objectivity which will function as a sort of guideline for our thinking and acting.
- Develop the ability for critical thinking
- Develop the ability to locate the political discourse of political and social actors within the framework of thinking traditions
