Course Objectives

Through this course, the participants will acquire knowledge about fundamental concepts in statistical sampling theory and in-depth knowledge about elements that make qualitative and limited dependent variables special. In addition, knowledge about the econometric techniques required for dealing with such variables and practice via hands-on work with STATA and data to implement these estimation techniques will be acquired in class.

Open to Economics students and students of Sociology, Education, Regional Planning, and other fields.


Course Content

This course aims to cover data sets encountered in social sciences; sampling techniques; preparing surveys in social sciences; econometric analysis of qualitative variables; and econometric analysis of limited dependent variables.


Course Learning Outcomes

After taking this course, students will be able to understand and implement sampling techniques and econometrics of  qualitative and limited dependent variables. 

Concrete examples will be provided in classes to make understand these subjects easier. STATA software package will be used  for the implementation of techniques to be examined in class.

Students will be able to master these techniques and apply them in their research.
