Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to increase the participant’s understanding of research methodology and to provide the skills needed for critical evaluation of research results. Lectures and seminars deal with strength and weaknesses of different types of research methods and with research ethics. Group assignments and individual assignments i nvolve critical analyses of research articles and evaluation of the present state of knowledge in a specific research field.


Course Content

Introduction to basic concepts in research methods in science and technology. Technology foresight methods; Delphi survey. Project management principles, concepts, tools and techniques. Impact assessment methods of R&D investments. Ethics in science and technology; the relations between science, technology, society, and ethics.


Course Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, you are expected to be able to:

1.Understand and contribute to theoretical discussions of research methodology, including research ethics;

2. Critically assess the credibility and generalizability of conclusions from empirical research studies;

3. Summarize and evaluate the state of knowledge in a specific research field.
