Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will learn:

  • the concepts of key affective variables and their relationship to one another
  • approaches to measure affective variables
  • methods to modify affect in science/mathematics education

Course Content

Theories of the affective variables including motivation, attitude, anxiety, self-concepts about the subject itself, beliefs about nature, teaching and learning of mathematics/science, self-regulation; investigation of research studies on affective variables in mathematics /scienceeducation; evaluation techniques of these variables; modelling of affective variables.


Course Learning Outcomes

Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:

  • explain the structure of key affective variables which play role in science/mathematics teaching and learning.
  • explain theories related to key affective variables
