Course Objectives

Students should learn;


Course Content

Practice teaching in a classroom environment for acquiring required skills in becoming an effective science or mathematics teacher (one day or two half days a week; minimum 12 weeks); teaching of a course(s) in a planned way to improve teaching skills in the real classroom setting. Seminars related to practice teaching for two hours (evaluation of practice teaching and sharing experiences with other student teachers). Needs in classroom, designing instructional activities for students with special needs.


Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students should be able to;

1.   Ability to understand the basic principles of practice teaching

      a) to explain basic elements in the process of learning and teaching

      b) to explain the value of practice teaching

      c) to explain the characteristics of practice teaching

      d) to state the essentials to successful practice teaching

      e) to explain the importance of experience in practice teaching

2.   Ability to comprehend the organization of classroom presentation

3.   Ability to understand the role of participants in the teaching/learning process

4.   Ability to evaluate prospective teachers on practice teaching

5.   Ability to grasp the meaning of the physical concepts in detail at the secondary school physics curriculum.

6.   Ability to grasp specific physics topics taught in each of the grades 9-12 and knows where to gather resources to aid in the teaching of those topics. 

7.   Ability to comprehend required skills in becoming an effective physics teacher during the practice teaching in a classroom environment.
