Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students should learn;


Course Content

Analysis of all topics in Turkish 11th and 12th grade physics curricula in detail; review of the physics concepts emphasizing the common misconceptions and learning difficulties related to these concepts in the literature; the strategies in order to handle the misconceptions; examination of ÖSS and ÖYS questions and measuring tools to assess the misconceptions, achievement, skills and attitude; familiarizing students to the corresponding Turkish of the physics concepts in English


Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course students will be able to;

  • Relate, apply and extend their knowledge of physics to the Turkish high school curriculum and the prior knowledge of high school students
  • Explain the structure of the Turkish national physics curriculum
  • Solve advanced level physics test questions
  • Explain misconceptions and learning difficulties students face in learning physics and develop methods to handle them
  • Use a variety of physics text books and supplementary books (in Turkish and English and especially those used in Turkish schools) to study physics concepts and solve related questions
  • Tell the corresponding Turkish of the physics concepts in English
  • Outline the sequence of the topics in Turkish high school physic curriculum
