The tension or conflict between traditionalism and modernization with an emphasis on the gender dimension of the process of modernization in Turkey is another theme of the course. This course is also about the multiple methods of data collection and methodological approaches in the fields of sociology and social anthropology. Overall, the course will help the students to trace the tension between cultural, ideological and political thinking in the context of Turkish modernization.
