Course Objectives

This course intends to introduce students to the concept of cultural heritage through an overview of the development of heritage and conservation concepts, international charters and conventions, as well as the legal and administrative aspects of heritage preservation at national scale. In this context, the course will focus on the principles and practice of archeological site management in particular, and examine selected examples of site management projects at both national and international scale. Besides, special themes in heritage management will be determined according to the background and academic interest of students.


Course Content

Provides students with a global view of heritage management and cultural property issues related to archaeological sites and the conduct of archaeological research.
