Course Objectives

1. Expose students to a real-world situation wherein they gain experience in the application of psychological principles through direct observation and participation in work in an applied psychological setting or related area

2. Facilitate the integration of knowledge gained from coursework in psychology with applied experience

3. Facilitate the development of new skills and knowledge related to the content area of the internship

4. Help students explore possible career paths in psychology and related fields

5. Help students learn to present themselves professionally in the workplace.


Course Content

This course was designed to give students a first hand experience in the application of psychology in real life work setting. Students will have the opportunity to make observations and applications related to applied areas of psychology in various institutions. They are expected to develop an understanding of practical issues relevant for the application of basic theoretical knowledge. The course also aims to give students an appreciation of ethnical guidelines for the professional conduct of psychology. Fr tehassessment part of this course, students prepare a summer practice report.


Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course students will be able to:

  • learn the process of seeking and securing an internship in the field of interest to them
  • clarify their career goals through examining their interests, strengths, and areas needing improvement, and hence make a more informed decision regarding career paths
  • learn professionalism in the workplace
  • learn how theoretical knowledge can be applied to work settings
  • gain marketable experience to assist further employment, admission to graduate school and integration of their academic training with skills related to the profession of psychology.
