Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will learn:

  • basic concepts used in conceptualization and practice of psychotherapy supervision
  • psychotherapy supervision skills with an emphasis on countertransference
  • the evaluation of supervision process and psychotherapist's progress.
  • ethical dilemmas and legal issues inherent in the psychotherapy supervision process

Course Content

Review of theory and research relevant to conceptualization and practice of clinical supervision; understanding and developing psychotherapy supervision skills with an emphasis on countertransference; discussion on the ethical dilemmas and legal issues inherent in the psychotherapy supervision process.


Course Learning Outcomes

Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:

  • formulate different plans to supervise the psychotherapists with different personality charactheristics 
  • develop values, knowledge, and skills in balancing the complexities of supervisory roles, relationship and process.

  • make progress in self analysis as well as helping the analysis of the other

  • detect and deal with repetition compulsion

  • detect and deal with different types of countertransference of the therapists
