Course Objectives

In this course students will

Develop a deep understanding of research process in social psychology from beginning (getting research ideas) to the end (publishing). 

Learn about several different research methods used in social psychology, with an emphasis on procedures and practical issues. 

Become familiar with publication process in social psychology

Understand questionable research practices and related ethical issues in research design


Course Content

The course will cover different research designs that are used in social psychological research. Each week a different method will be discussed with an emphasis on the practical issues and its appropriateness for different types of research questions. Also questionable research practices and fraud in research will be discussed in the light of the recent issues. Finally, the process of writing and publishing research will be covered.


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the semester, students are expected to

Have a deep understanding of commonly used research methods in social psychology and how to use them 

Broaden their perspective of research methods that they can use in their studies 

Be able to understand pros and cons of each method

Be able to design novel research using these methods
