Course Objectives
Students taking this course are expected to:
Learn all badic theories about language development
I expect students in this class to gain a broad understanding about structural, functional and theoretical bases of language, and to reflect what they learn in this course upon constructing a study design and proposal, which they may consider to conduct in the future.
Course Content
Basic mechanisms of native and second language acquisition will be comparatively reviewed. The course will also include issues of bilingualism and multilingualism in children and adolescents with a particular emphasis on research on Turkish children living in European countries. Methods of research, testing, diagnosis and intervention derived from studies of linguistic processes in children will be introduced.

Students who took this course are expected to:
- Obtain a comprehensive understanding about basic theories about language development.
- Have the skill to create a novel study proposal about language development
- Have an understanding about how language development are laid out among infants and children especially.
