Course Objectives
At the end of the course, the sturdents will gain knowledge about:
1. The historical background of psychotherapy
2. The importance of psychotherapy theories and their connection with applications of techniques
3. Comparing and contrasting different schools
4. Ethical aspects of psychotherapy
5. Cognitive and behavioral therapies
6. Family therapy and systems approach
7. Psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapies
8. Contemporary issues in psychotherapy such as education standarts, research methods, etc.
Course Content
Survey of different schools of psychotherapy. Review of psychotherapy research, critique and ethical standards for therapists.

The students will learn about:
1. Categorizing psychotherapy theories and applications according to some criteria
2. What psychotherapy is all about from a theoretical and practical perspective
3. What actually happens in therapy from case examples
4. Different techniques used in different schools of psychotherapy
