Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to foster a positive attitude towards statistics and improve students' capacity to choose suitable statistical procedures for particular hypotheses or research inquiries. By the course's conclusion, students should exhibit proficiency in executing various types of statistical analyses and be capable of composing reports outlining the analyses conducted.
Course Content
This course is intended to introduce the methods of statistical hypothesis testing that are used frequently in more complex research designs in psychology. The main part of the course will cover the use of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) in analyzing psychological data. In addition, the use of non-parametric tests and the issue of statistical power will be discussed.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will:
- Acquire knowledge about t-tests, ANOVA models, regression models, Chi-square analysis, and factor analysis.
- Differentiate between the types of research questions appropriate for each analysis
- Be capable of conducting hypothesis tests relevant to these analyses.
- Develop the skills required to interpret and construct reports on the results of these analyses.
- Acquire an understanding of research findings employing these analyses in the literature.
