Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student:

1. Will gain knowledge in how theory and concepts of psychology apply to research or various professional settings such as clinical, organizational or community 

2. Will gain knowledge in career options available in professional settings

3. Will gain knowledge in psychological assessments used in professional settings

4. Will develop effective communication skills in the professional settings

5. Will develop professional code of conduct


Course Content

This course is designed to give students a first hand experience in the application of psychology in real life setting. Students will have the opportunity to make observations and applications related to psychology in various institutions. They are expected to develop an understanding of practical issues relevant for the applications of their theoretical knowledge. The course also aims to give students an appreciation of ethnical guidelines for the professional conduct of psychology.


Course Learning Outcomes

1.a. Describes how relevant psychological theories can explain observed behaviors in the professional settings

1.b. Discusses possible reasons of observed behaviors in professional settings within the theoretical framework of psychology 

2.a. Evaluates the suitability of personal career goals to the requirements of the professional subfield of psychology 

2.b. Evaluates advantages and disadvantages of the experienced professional subfield

3.a. Identifies which assessment would be suitable for a specific purpose

3.b. Generates a report on the results of the psychological assessments

4.a. Displays professional communication skills with consumers of the service, colleagues, supervisors

4.b. Presents opinions, evaluations to colleagues, supervisors, customers professionally

5.a. Displays honesty, responsibility, competency, and professional and ethical attitude throughout the internship
