Course Objectives

Students will learn to design and synthesize a polymer of interest. They also can criticize the polymerization reactions given in the chemistry literature.

Course Content

A comprehensive course on synthesis of polymers. Mechanistic approach to the synthesis of polymers via different methods, radical, anionic, cationic, metathesis polymerization, will be covered. Moreoveri the reactions of polymers will be examined.

Course Learning Outcomes

by the end of this course, students will

- design a polymer of interest

-develop a synthetic route for the polymer

-analyze the shortcomings of a synthetic route for a polymer

-devise post-polymerization modifations on a polymer
