Course Objectives
Primary objectives of this course are:
-To make the students more conscious of Turkey’s Foreign Relations and the activities in its region and beyond.
- To analyse the role of Turkey in multilateral setting.
- To understand the machinery and mechanics of Turkish foreign policy.
- To encourage students to think critically about Turkish foreign policy
Course Content
The course aims to identify and analyze various factors contributing to Turkey`s foreign policy orientation. While the main focus of this course is the political dynamics and issues of Turkish foreign policy after World War II, the problems and determinants of Turkish foreign policy between 1919-1945, with reference to past experiences and geopolitical imperatives placing certain constraints on the state`s decision makers, will also be briefly discussed.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students are expected to understand:
- The difference between foreign and domestic policy;
- Understand perceptions of Turkish foreign policy vocabulary
- Be familiar with approaches to Turkish foreign policy and the use of international policy instruments;
- Understand and critically review the significant Turkish international
