Course Objectives
The course will cover the basic principles of statistical physics and its applications to both classical and quantum mechanical physical system. Basic principles of quantum statistical mechanics will also be given. İdeal Bose and Fermi Systems will be examined. Elementary interacting sytems will be treated in some detail.
Course Content
Elements of the classical and quantum statistics, the partition function, ideal Fermi gas, ideal Bose gas, Ising model and some applications of statistical mechanics.
Course Learning Outcomes
The students completing this course, will become acquinted with the essential principles of statisitical mechanics and will be able to apply it to classical and and quantum mechanical systems
