Course Objectives
The course renders it possible for those who study philosophy to apprehend the various divisions of aethetics, by furnishing them with diverse outlooks. The selected texts give the students the chance to acquire a wide background knowledge of aesthetics while letting them increase their artistic appreciation and gain new insights into life as well as into philosophy.
Course Content
Study of the nature of beauty, art and creativity, artistic appreciation and criticism.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of the term, the students will have
*gained a substantial insight into the nature of aesthetics,
*acquired a novel outlook concerning issues such as art, beauty, taste and judgment of taste,
*become familiar with the aesthetic notions of some philosophers prominent in the field,
*developed their critical thinking skills.
