Offered Semester:Fall Semesters.

Course Objectives

This course aims to guide graduate students in conducting independent and original research under the supervision of their academic advisor. It develops students’ ability to define and investigate advanced problems in petroleum and natural gas engineering, analyze research findings, and communicate results effectively. The course also emphasizes adherence to ethical standards and professional responsibility. Students are required to enroll in this course every semester throughout their graduate studies until the completion of their thesis.

Course Content

Program of research leading to M.S. degree, arranged between student and a faculty member. Students register to this course in all semesters starting from the beginning of their fall/spring semester while the research program or write-up of thesis is in progress. (F&S)*

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the thesis course, the student will be able to:

  • Define a research problem and formulate clear objectives based on a comprehensive literature review.

  • Develop and apply appropriate research methodology to address the problem.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to produce scientifically valid results.

  • Communicate research progress and findings effectively.

  • Follow ethical standards and professional responsibilities during the research process.

Assessment
The outcome of this course is reported as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory, based on the advisor’s evaluation of the student’s academic performance and research progress at the end of each semester.
