Course Objectives
This course introduces students to the human anatomy and kinesiological analysis of sports movements.
Course Content
This course includes examination of the cells, tissues, organs, systems and structures of the movement system that make up the human body, anatomical terms and concepts, planes, axes, movements of the head, neck, trunk, upper and lower parts and their functions during the contraction of the muscles participating in the movement, the joint movements they create, and kinesiological analysis of sports movements.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a knowledge of anatomical terminology
- Identify the planes and axes during human movement
- Explain the different types of bones and joints in the human body
- Demonstrate the major muscle groups and muscles involved in human movement
- Identify the major joints, muscles, and ligaments of the foot, ankle, knee, hip, pelvis, axial skeleton, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand
