Offered Semester:Fall or Spring Semesters.

Course Objectives

  • Main objective of this course is to teach students to model different types of smart materials and to design simple smart structures.

  • The students will learn smart structures containing smart material-based sensors, actuators to perform functions like monitoring the health and/or performance the structure, and changing the shape or mechanical properties of the structure.

  • Students will be able to apply the techniques learned in this class to produce solutions to industrial problems using smart structures and materials.

  • The course will also help to build the necessary foundation for the students to conduct research in the areas of smart materials and smart structures.
