Course Content

Asymptotic sequences and series. Integrals, Laplece's method, method of stationary phase, method of steepest descent. Duffing equations, method of renormalization, method of rescaling, method of multiple scales. Vibration problems, linear oscillator, primary and subharmonic resonance. Mathieu equation. Boundary layers in fluid flow, matched asymptotic expansions. WKB approximation. (R/F)
