Course Objectives

This course aims to cover the theory of algebraic surfaces using modern techniques. The emphasis will be on the complex base field case although the case of other base fields will also be discussed.

By the end of this course, a student will understand the Kodaira-Enriques classification of algebraic surfaces and will see the usefulness of coherent cohomology techniques in this setting.
