Course Objectives

Holistic understanding and comprehension of general aspects of biological oceanography from ocean physics to phytoplankton, fish and marine mammals as well as anthropogenic activities.


Course Content

Divisions of marine environment. Classification of marine organisms: Phytoplankton, zooplankton, marine plants and invertebrates. Biology of marine organisms: Cnidaria, Ctenophora, Annelida, Mollusca, Arthropoda, Echinodermata, Crustacea and Tunicata, their habitat, feeding, reproduction and respiration.

Understanding of biological oceanography of the pelagic and benthic ecosystems
