Course Objectives

 This course will provide you with a general terms and concepts in addition to the undestanding the structure and functioning of marine ecosystems.


Course Content

Introductory concepts, marine environment. Plankton and primary production, zooplankton, energy flow and mineral recycling, nekton, fish, benthos and benthic communities. Human impact on marine biota.


Course Learning Outcomes

 At the end of this course, you gain (1) more respect for marine ecosystems, (2) a broad understanding of marine ecology; (3) develop and prepare testing suitable hypotheses to investigate curious observations or issues in marine environment. I am hoping that you will be able to do research on marine ecology following learning methods for studying marine ecology in the field; and analyzing and presenting the data you have collected; and being able to write scientific reports.
