Course Objectives


Course Content

The independent study Phd course aims to cover contemporary topics and issues of the Middle East. It will cover the current debates of the region through theoretical lenses and will seek to examine the key developments in the literature on the study of the Middle East. It will start by looking at the debate on studying the Middle East and the attempts to bridge the gap between IR and Middle East Studies. The course will focus both on the state-level discussions as well as the social dynamics and the social movements of the region. It will look at the critical issues that are at the heart of the region like war and peace, transnational identities, ideologies, and social movements.
