Course Objectives

This course seeks to provide the students with a scientific understanding of energy, water and environmental issues in international relations. The students will develop their own  ability to reflect on the international aspects of the issues of energy, water and environment through developing their own analytical skills. 


Course Content

This postgraduate course seeks to examine the key aspects of energy, water and environmental policies in and around the European Union. The first part of the course develops the conceptual framework for analyzing the relationships among energy, water and environment by exploring the political realist, liberal and critical approaches. In the following part, the course will deal with the development and characteristics of energy, water and environment policies in the European Union. The concluding final part of the course discusses in interactions between the energy, water and environment policies inside the European Union and its neighborhood, covering the Americas, Africa, Asia, Eurasia and Turkey.


Course Learning Outcomes

After taking this course, the students are expected to develop a deeper understanding of energy, water and environmental issues and challenges in international relations. They will also write short  essays and make presentations on these topics
