Course Objectives
This course will introduce the students the major concepts, approaches, actors and issues in the International Relations discipline. By the end of the semester, you should be able to gain a thorough understanding of:
- International Relations as a discipline and major approaches in studying IR
- The historical context the modern international system has evolved
- Theories of International Relations
- Units of analysis (individual, state and system)
- Changing nature of war and security in international relations
- Tools of Statecraft and foreign policy analysis.
Course Content
This course is offered to students from other departments as a non-technical elective. The main purpose of the course is to familiarize students with the basic concepts and a general understanding of the international relations discipline.
