Course Objectives

This course is designed to promote research interest in various areas of industrial engineering. References and state-of-the-art papers are discussed.

This semester, the focus of the course will be Humanitarian Applications of IE/OR. There will be occasional lectures. However, majority of the classes will be paper presentations & discussions led by students. Throughout the paper discussions, the students are expected to demonstrate a deep understanding of the paper in terms of the problem studied, authors' approach, tools used, major results, contribution, and weaknesses. The students are also expected to develop a research project by the end of the semester.
